Optional fresh sour mix (if not using prepared)
Method
Glass prep
Rim the glass (optional)
If you want a salted rim, pour the teaspoon of coarse salt onto a small plate. Run the lime wedge around the outside rim of a rocks or coupe glass, then dip the rim lightly into the salt to coat. For a sugared rim, use sugar instead.
Cocktail mixing
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
Add 2 oz silver tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, 1 oz prepared sour mix (or the 1 oz lime juice + 1 oz simple syrup mixture), and 1/2 oz fresh orange juice to the shaker.
Cover and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted. This chills and dilutes the drink to proper balance.
Finish & garnish
Express an orange twist or squeeze a lime wedge over the drink and drop it in or place an orange wheel on the rim as garnish.
Serve immediately. Offer a salted-rim option if not already applied.
