Preparation

Drink

1. Chill glass (optional)

If you prefer your beer extra cold, place the glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes or fill it with ice and cold water for 1–2 minutes, then discard the water/ice and dry the glass briefly.

2. Open beer

Hold the bottle or can upright on a stable surface. Use a bottle opener to remove the cap (for a bottle) or lift the tab (for a can). Avoid shaking the container.

3. Pour beer

Tilt the chilled glass at about a 45° angle. Begin pouring the Heineken gently down the side of the glass. When the glass is about half full, gradually straighten it and pour down the center to create a 1/2 to 1-inch head (foam). This helps release the aroma and gives a proper presentation.

If you prefer an ice-cold beer and will accept some dilution, add 1–3 ice cubes to the glass before or after pouring. Note that this will change flavor and carbonation.

5. Garnish (optional)

If desired, serve with a lemon or lime wedge on the rim. Some drinkers like to squeeze a small amount of citrus into the beer, but traditional Heineken is typically served without garnish.

6. Serve

Place the beer on a coaster and enjoy immediately while cold. Drink responsibly.
