Writers' Tears Irish Whiskey Cocktail (single serving)

Method

Writers' Tears Irish Whiskey Cocktail (single serving)

1

Prepare honey syrup

If you don't already have honey syrup, combine equal parts honey and very hot (not boiling) water and stir until fully combined and slightly cooled. Measure 0.5 oz for one cocktail.

2

Mix the cocktail

Add 2 oz Writers' Tears Irish Whiskey, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

3

Shake

Shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until the shaker feels well chilled (approximately 15–20°F drop). This chills and dilutes the drink to balance sweetness and acidity.

4

Strain and serve

Strain the cocktail over a large ice cube in an old-fashioned (rocks) glass. If you prefer it up (no ice), double-strain into a chilled coupe glass.

5

Garnish

Express an orange twist over the surface of the drink by holding it with the peel facing down and giving it a quick twist to release the oils, then rub the rim and drop the twist into the glass.

6

Final notes

Taste and adjust: if too tart, add 0.25 oz more honey syrup; if too sweet, add 0.25 oz more lemon. Serve immediately.
