Method

Prepare Glass & Ice

1

Chill glass

Place a rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to ensure it's nicely chilled.

2

If using, prepare one large ice cube or sphere and set aside. Alternatively, fill the chilled glass with 2–3 large ice cubes.

Build the Cocktail

3

Add the chilled egg nog, Butterscotch Schnapps and 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey into a mixing glass or Boston shaker filled with a little ice (about 4–6 cubes).

4

Add 2 dashes of cardamom bitters on top of the liquid.

5

Stir gently with a bar spoon for 10–15 seconds to chill and lightly incorporate (stirring keeps the egg nog velvety and avoids over-dilution).

Finish & Serve

6

Discard the chilling ice water from the serving glass if used. Place the prepared large ice cube or fresh ice into the chilled rocks glass.

7

Strain the mixed cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass over the ice.

8

Grate a small pinch (about 1 tsp) of fresh nutmeg over the top. Add the optional cinnamon stick or star anise for aroma if desired.

9

Serve immediately with a short stirrer/straw so the drinker can re-stir briefly as it chills. Recommend sipping slowly; the nog is rich and boozy.
