Inspired by German “Radlers” that combine beer and soda to produce a light and refreshing beverage. TAG Tangerine Wheat is a juicy and slightly hazy American wheat beer with the zesty citrus bite of tangerine.

In a large brew kettle, heat 3 gallons of water to approximately 160°F (71°C). Add the wheat malt and pale malt, stirring well to combine. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes to allow the grains to mash.

Prepare the Mash

After 60 minutes, sparge the grains with an additional 2 gallons of hot water (170°F/77°C) to rinse out the sugars. Collect the liquid (wort) in your brew kettle.

Sparge the Grains

Bring the wort to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add the Citra hops and boil for 60 minutes. This will help to extract the bitterness and flavor from the hops.

Boil the Wort

With 10 minutes remaining in the boil, add the tangerine zest and tangerine juice to the kettle. This will infuse the beer with fresh tangerine flavor.

Add the Citrus Flavors

After the boil is complete, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches a temperature of about 70°F (21°C).

Cool the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the yeast by sprinkling it on top of the wort. Seal the fermentation vessel with an airlock and let it ferment at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.

Fermentation

After fermentation is complete, prepare a priming solution with sugar to carbonate the beer. Bottle the beer using sanitized bottles and caps, and let it carbonate for another 1-2 weeks.

Bottling

Once carbonation is complete, chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Pour into a glass and enjoy your refreshing TAG Tangerine Wheat!
