In a large brew kettle, heat 5 gallons of filtered water to 165°F (74°C). Add the pale malt, wheat malt, and Munich malt. Stir well and hold the temperature at 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes, allowing the grains to convert starches into sugars.

Mashing the Grains

After mashing, sparge the grains and collect the wort. Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the bittering hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add the aroma hops in the last 10 minutes of the boil.

Boiling the Wort

Cool the wort rapidly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches 70°F (21°C). Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment for about 1-2 weeks, or until fermentation is complete.

Cooling and Fermenting

After fermentation is complete, either crush the Maine wild blueberries or puree them in a blender. Add the blueberries to the fermentation vessel and let them sit for an additional 3-5 days to infuse flavor.

Adding the Blueberries

After the blueberry infusion, prepare a priming solution by dissolving the priming sugar in 2 cups of boiling water. Add this to the beer before bottling. Bottle the beer using sanitized bottles and caps. Allow the bottles to condition at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.
