Build the cocktail
Fill a lowball (old-fashioned) glass or rocks glass about halfway with ice cubes or one large ice cube.
Pour 1 oz Campari over the ice.
Add 1 oz sweet vermouth to the glass.
Top with approximately 2 oz (about 60 ml) chilled soda water. Adjust to taste if you prefer a lighter or stronger drink.
Mix gently
Give the drink one or two gentle stirs with a bar spoon to combine ingredients without losing too much carbonation.
Garnish and serve
Express an orange peel over the glass to release oils, then drop the peel in or hang an orange slice on the rim. Serve immediately.
