Method
Prepare Glass (optional)
Rim glass
If rimming the glass, run a lime wheel around the rim of a chilled martini or coupe glass. Dip the rim into coarse sugar or toasted coconut to coat evenly. Set the glass aside in the freezer or chill while you make the cocktail.
Make Cocktail
Add vodka, pineapple juice, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup or enough to nearly fill the shaker).
Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
Strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer (or Hawthorne strainer) into the prepared chilled martini or coupe glass to remove ice shards and any pulp.
Garnish & Serve
Thread a small pineapple wedge or leaf (and optional lime wheel or pineapple slice) on a cocktail pick and rest it on the rim or float it in the drink.
Serve immediately. Optionally, provide a small napkin or coaster. Enjoy responsibly.
