Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

1

Combine and shake

Add the gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker feels cold to the touch.

2

Double strain the shaken mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled highball or coupe glass filled with 2 large ice cubes (or one large cube). Double straining removes small ice chips and any pulp for a cleaner drink.

Sparkle & Finish

3

Top the strained cocktail with 2 oz tonic or club soda for a lighter fizz. If you prefer a spritzier, more celebratory version, replace the soda with 1 oz dry sparkling wine and 1 oz club soda (or use 2 oz sparkling wine). Pour gently to preserve effervescence.

4

Express the orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm twist to release the oils. Run the peel around the rim, then drop it into the glass.

5

Garnish with a fresh thyme sprig by lightly slap‑smacking it between your palms first (this wakes the aromatics) and laying it atop the drink. Serve immediately.
