Fruit juices & mixers

Method

Prepare juices

  1. 1

    Choose base flavors

Decide which two or three fruit juices you want to highlight. A balanced suggestion: 1 cup orange juice as a base plus 1/2 cup pineapple and 1/2 cup cranberry for brightness. Alternatively swap pineapple or cranberry with apple, grapefruit, or extra lemonade depending on sweetness/tartness you prefer.

  2. 2

If using whole fruit (orange, grapefruit, lemon), juice them fresh and strain any large pulp for a smoother soda.

Mixing

  1. 3

In a large pitcher, add ice to chill (about 1 cup). Pour in the chosen combination of fruit juices: 1 cup orange juice + two 1/2-cup juices (for a roughly 2.5 cup total juice volume). If you prefer a single-juice variant (e.g., all grapefruit or all orange), use about 2 to 2.5 cups total juice.

  2. 4

Add 1 teaspoon simple syrup only if you like it slightly sweeter. Add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice to brighten the flavor if desired.

  3. 5

Gently stir the juice mixture to combine and chill for 1–2 minutes with the ice so flavors marry and the mixture cools.

  4. 6

Just before serving, slowly pour 1 cup chilled club soda or sparkling water into the pitcher to keep as much carbonation as possible. Stir very gently once or twice to incorporate without flattening the soda.

Serve & garnish

  1. 7

Fill serving glasses with ice. Pour the breakfast soda mixture over the ice, dividing evenly (recipe makes about 3–4 servings depending on pour size).

  2. 8

Garnish each glass with an orange slice or lemon wheel and an optional mint sprig. Serve immediately while fizzy.

  3. 9

If preparing single-serving bottled sodas: in a tall glass, fill half with chosen juice combo, top with chilled sparkling water, add ice and garnish.
