Method

Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

2

Prepare the Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

3

Mash the Bananas

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth using a fork or potato masher.

Mixing

4

Combine Wet Ingredients

To the mashed bananas, add granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well incorporated.

5

Add Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

6

Incorporate Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in chopped walnuts or pecans and/or chocolate chips into the batter.

Baking

7

Pour and Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8

Cool Down

Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
