Chill & Prepare Glass

Measure a single serving of the chosen Scotch (approx. 25–30 ml / 1 tbs to 2 tbs). The ingredients list provides one-tablespoon measures as a reference—adjust to standard dram/ounce sizes as desired (a typical single pour is 25–30 ml).

Measure Serving

Pour the measured Scotch into the prepared glass. Use only one bottle per serving — the menu lists options (Balvenie 12/14, Glenlivet, Glenmorangie, Oban, Macallan 12/18, Johnnie Walker Black/Blue, Monkey Shoulder, Laphroaig, Lagavulin). Do not mix different malts unless you intend to create a blend; the menu presents them as individual choices.

Pour Scotch

Offer 10–15 ml (approximately one teaspoon to one tablespoon) of room-temperature water on the side or add a couple of drops with a water dropper. Explain to the guest that a few drops of water can open the aroma and flavors — peat-forward or high-proof malts may benefit from a little water to soften ethanol and reveal subtleties.

Encourage nosing before sipping: bring the glass to the nose and inhale gently to identify aroma notes (vanilla, oak, spice, peat, smoke, fruit, toffee). Take a small sip, let it coat the tongue, and exhale slowly to note flavors and finish. If preferred, add a small amount of the provided water and taste again to observe changes.

Nose & Taste

Serve the Scotch with the chosen optional water on the side and the ice cube only if requested. Offer recommended simple pairings: dark chocolate for Macallan, smoked fish or strong cheese for Islay malts (Laphroaig, Lagavulin), or nutty/fruit cheeses for Speyside (Balvenie, Glenlivet).

If offering a tasting flight, arrange three to five small pours (15–20 ml / about 1 tbs each) of different expressions from the list. Present them in order from lightest to heaviest/peatiest (example progression: Glenlivet 12 → Balvenie 12 → Balvenie 14 → Oban 14 → Lagavulin 16). Provide water and palate cleansers (plain crackers) between samples.

Organize Flight
