Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.

  2. 2

Add pear vodka (2 oz), ginger liqueur (0.5 oz), pear puree or nectar (1 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz), and simple syrup (0.25 oz) to a cocktail shaker.

  3. 3

Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 cubes) and secure the lid.

  4. 4

Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted. This chills and slightly dilutes the mixture for balance.

  5. 5

Discard the ice or water from the chilled martini/coupe glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove any pear fiber or small ice shards for a silky texture.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 6

Express the lemon twist over the surface of the cocktail by holding it skin-side down and giving it a quick twist to release the oils, then rub the rim of the glass lightly with the twist.

  2. 7

Float or place the pear slice or thin pear fan on the rim or gently on the surface of the martini. Serve immediately.
