Method
Sundae
- 1
Prepare whipped cream
Chill a small mixing bowl and beaters (optional for faster whipping). Pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy whipping cream into the bowl. Add 1 teaspoon powdered sugar and 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or whisk, beat until soft peaks form, about 1.5–2 minutes with a mixer or 3–4 minutes by hand. Do not overbeat — cream should be light and billowy.

Add toppings
Spoon 2 tablespoons of chocolate sauce evenly over the scoops so it drips slightly down the sides. Dollop or pipe a generous spoonful (about 2 tablespoons) of the freshly whipped cream on top of the ice cream.

Finish and serve
Place one maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream. If using, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of colorful sprinkles over the sundae. Serve immediately so the ice cream doesn't melt.
