Beer Battered Alaskan Halibut

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Tartar Sauce

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, and lemon juice. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.

2

Prepare the Slaw

In a large bowl, toss the slaw mix with a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.

3

Prepare the Fries

Cook the frozen fries according to package instructions and keep warm.

4

Make the Beer Batter

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer until the batter is smooth and thick.

5

Fry the Halibut

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium-high heat. Dip each halibut fillet into the beer batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

6

Serve

Plate the beer-battered halibut with a side of slaw and fries. Serve with house tartar sauce on the side.
