Method

Preparation

1

Measure and heat

Measure 2 teaspoons of jasmine green tea leaves. Heat fresh, filtered water to 175°F–185°F (about 80°C–85°C). If you do not have a thermometer, bring water to a gentle simmer and let it sit for 1 minute to cool slightly.

2

Warm teaware

Pour about 2 oz of the heated water into your teapot or teacup, swirl to warm and rinse, then discard the rinse water. This stabilizes brewing temperature.

Brewing

3

Add tea leaves

Place the 2 tsp jasmine green tea leaves into the warmed teapot or an infuser set in your cup.

4

Pour water

Pour 8 oz of the heated water (175°F–185°F / 80°C–85°C) over the tea leaves to cover them fully.

5

Steep

Steep the tea for 2 to 3 minutes. For a lighter, more floral cup, aim for 2 minutes; for slightly stronger flavor, steep up to 3 minutes. Avoid steeping longer than 3 minutes to prevent bitterness.

6

Strain and serve

Remove the infuser or strain the tea leaves into your cup immediately after steeping to stop extraction. Taste and adjust steep time for future brews if desired.

Finishing (Optional)

7

Sweeten or garnish

If desired, stir in up to 1 tsp honey to sweeten. Add a lemon slice or a sprig of fresh mint for extra aroma. Note: lemon can mute delicate jasmine notes, so add sparingly.

8

Multiple infusions

High-quality jasmine green tea can be re-steeped 1–2 times. For each subsequent infusion, increase steep time by 30–45 seconds and use water at the same temperature.
