Cocktail
Prepare glass (optional)
If you prefer a salted rim, run a lime wedge around the outside rim of a rocks glass or coupe, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt. Set the glass aside.
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz Don Julio Reposado or Patrón Silver tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz triple sec (Cointreau), and 0.25 oz agave nectar to the shaker.
Dry shake (no ice) for 5–10 seconds only if you used whole fresh lime with pulp and want extra emulsification; otherwise proceed to the next step.
Add ice to the shaker if you did a dry shake or if ice has melted; then shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.
Double strain (if you want a very clean cocktail) or strain directly into the prepared rocks glass over fresh ice, or into a chilled coupe if serving up. Taste and adjust sweetness with an additional 0.25 oz agave nectar if desired.
Garnish / Finish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately.
