Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill: Place an old-fashioned or rocks glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail (2–5 minutes).

2

Prepare honey syrup if you don't have ready syrup: mix equal parts honey and hot water (1:1) until combined, let cool. Measure 0.5 oz for the drink.

3

Build and shake

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Blue Run bourbon, 0.5 oz green chartreuse, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz honey syrup, 0.25 oz blue curaçao, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup).

4

Shake vigorously

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted — this both chills and dilutes the drink to balance sweetness and proof.

5

Strain

Discard ice from the chilled glass. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled rocks glass over one large clear ice cube or fresh ice to keep the drink from over-diluting.

6

Finish

If you'd like a slightly brighter green/blue shimmer, gently float an extra 1/8 oz (about 0.25 tsp) blue curaçao on top by pouring slowly over the back of a spoon. This step is optional and creates a layered emerald-blue appearance.

Garnish

7

Edge (optional): If using sugar, moisten the rim of the chilled glass with the lime wheel, then dip the rim into the edible green or gold sugar to coat lightly.

8

Garnish: Twist the lime wheel over the drink to express oils, then drop it into the drink or perch it on the rim. Slap the mint sprig between your palms to release aromatics and place it beside the lime wheel as a fragrant garnish.

9

Serve immediately: Present the Blue Run Emerald with a small cocktail pick if you used the sugared rim. Sip and enjoy—notes of bourbon warmth, herbal chartreuse, citrus, and a hint of blue curaçao sweetness create the drink’s emerald character.
