Method
Bar Base & Glassware
Prepare glass or bottle
Chill the sports bottle or highball glass briefly (5–10 minutes) in the freezer or by filling with ice water, then discard the water. Add 3–4 ice cubes to the chilled vessel to keep the drink cold.
If using a sports bottle, ensure its mouth is wide enough for ice and straw; if not, use a highball glass for easier muddling and garnish.
Simple White Sports Bar Cocktail
Muddle mint and salt
Place the fresh mint leaves and pinch of sea salt in the bottom of a mixing glass or shaker. Gently press (don’t shred) the mint 3–4 times with a muddler or back of a spoon to release aromatic oils.
Combine liquids
Add white rum (1.5 oz), coconut water (4 oz), fresh lime juice (0.5 oz) and simple syrup (0.25 oz) into the shaker or mixing glass with the muddled mint.
Shake or stir
If using a shaker: add ice, secure lid and shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds until well-chilled. If using a mixing glass: add ice and stir for 15–20 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.
Strain and top
Double-strain (to remove mint bits) into the prepared sports bottle or highball glass over fresh ice. Top with 1 oz club soda and gently stir once to combine.
Taste and adjust: if you prefer sweeter, add another 0.25 oz simple syrup; if brighter, add another 0.25 oz lime juice.
