Classic Cocktail Base

House Soda & Garnish

Optional Bitter Finish

Method

Classic Cocktail Base

1

Prepare glass

Chill a highball or Collins glass by filling it with ice and cold water. Let sit while you mix the drink (about 3 minutes), then discard the water and keep the glass chilled.

2

Combine spirits and mixers

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz dry gin, 1 oz white rum, 1 oz triple sec, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. If using orange bitters, add 2 dashes now.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to come halfway up the shaker). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold.

House Soda & Garnish

4

Strain and top

Discard the ice/water from the chilled glass. Fill the glass with fresh cubed ice to about 3/4 full. Using a fine or Hawthorne strainer, strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass. Top with 2 oz club soda, pouring gently to preserve effervescence.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately with a straw if desired.
