Cocktail

Method

Prep

1

Rim the glass

Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of a highball or pint glass. Dip the rim into coarse salt or celery salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

2

Fill the prepared glass with ice and set nearby.

Mixing

3

In a cocktail shaker (or a mixing glass) add ice to fill about half full.

4

Pour in 2 oz Upstate vodka, 3 oz Bloody Mary mix, 1 oz tomato juice, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice.

5

Add 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp hot sauce, and 1 tsp prepared horseradish to add depth and heat.

6

Sprinkle in 0.25 tsp celery salt and add 3 grinds of freshly ground black pepper.

7

Shake (for a slightly frothy, well-integrated drink) vigorously for 8–10 seconds, or gently roll/stir for 10–15 seconds if you prefer less dilution and a clearer appearance.

Assemble & Garnish

8

Strain (or pour) the mixed cocktail into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.

9

Give the drink a gentle stir to incorporate any rim salt and to chill the top layer.

10

Garnish with a celery stalk, a lemon wedge on the rim, and optionally a pickle spear or green olive on a cocktail pick.

11

Serve immediately with a straw and a napkin. Encourage the drinker to adjust heat or salt with extra hot sauce or celery salt to taste.
