Cocktail
Chill glass
If possible, chill a large wine glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you assemble ingredients to keep the drink cold.
Add ice
Fill the chilled wine glass generously with fresh ice cubes until nearly full. This keeps the spritz properly chilled and prevents dilution from large temperature differences.
Pour Aperol
Measure and pour 3 tablespoons (about 1.5 oz) of Aperol over the ice. Using Aperol first helps it sit below the sparkling wine for a classic layered look.
Top with soda
Add 2 ounces (about 60 ml) of chilled soda water to the glass. Pour gently to maintain effervescence. Adjust soda slightly (±0.5 oz) to taste if you prefer a lighter spritz.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with one fresh orange wheel placed on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
