Cocktail
Chill glass
Place your serving glass (rocks or coupe) in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
Combine ingredients
In a large mixing glass, add 2 oz Del Bac whiskey, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. If you prefer a slightly sweeter Manhattan, add 1/4 tsp Luxardo or maraschino cherry syrup.
Prepare serving glass
Discard ice water from the chilled glass (if used) and quickly dry if necessary.
Strain and garnish
Using a strainer, pour the chilled Manhattan into the prepared glass. Garnish with 1 maraschino cherry dropped into the drink or skewered on a pick. Optionally, express a lemon or orange peel over the drink and discard or add as garnish for a citrus aroma.
Serve immediately and enjoy. Note: adjust vermouth ratio to taste — 1:2 vermouth to whiskey is classic for a slightly spirit-forward Manhattan; increase vermouth to 1.25–1.5 oz for a softer, sweeter profile.
Tools & Prep
Ensure all tools (mixing glass, bar spoon, strainer) are clean and the serving glass is chilled before beginning. Use fresh, large ice cubes for best dilution control and clarity.
