Method
Strawberry Purée (if making fresh)
Prepare purée
Hull and roughly chop the fresh strawberries. Place strawberries and granulated sugar (if using) into a blender or food processor. Pulse until smooth. If the purée is too thick for shaking, add up to 1 teaspoon of water and blend again. Taste and adjust sweetness. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if you want a very smooth purée without seeds (optional). Yield: about 2 oz purée.
Cocktail
Build and shake
In a cocktail shaker, add 4 oz of ice, 2 oz Lunazul Blanco tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 2 oz strawberry purée, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh orange juice, and 0.25 oz agave syrup if you prefer it sweeter. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted.
Strain and serve
Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice (optional). Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass using the shaker’s strainer and a fine mesh strainer (if you strained purée seeds earlier you can single-strain).
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and a halved or whole fresh strawberry on a pick or perched on the rim. Serve immediately.
