Build the drink
Fill a copper mug (or a highball glass) about three-quarters full with cubed ice to chill the vessel.
Pour 2 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey over the ice.
Add 0.5 oz fresh lime juice (about half a lime). For a slightly sweeter balance, use 0.75 oz.
Top with 4 oz chilled ginger beer. Pour gently to preserve carbonation and to avoid overflowing.
Stir gently once or twice with a bar spoon to combine ingredients without losing fizz.
Garnish & Finish
Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim. Optionally slap a mint sprig between your palms and tuck it into the drink for an aromatic top note.
Serve immediately while very cold. Provide a straw if desired.
