1

Choose a rocks glass (old-fashioned glass) or a highball glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes until nearly full. The ice chills the drink and moderates dilution.

2

Measure and pour 1 oz Campari over the ice. Using a jigger ensures consistent balance between bitter and sweet.

3

Measure and pour 1 oz sweet vermouth (rosso) into the glass on top of the Campari. The vermouth adds sweetness and aromatic complexity.

4

Gently stir the Campari and vermouth together with a bar spoon for about 10–15 seconds (6–8 revolutions). Stirring chills and lightly dilutes the base without overworking the soda fizz when added.

5

Top with about 2 oz cold club soda (adjust to taste). Pour slowly down the side of the glass so the soda layers lightly and preserves some effervescence.

6

Give the drink one gentle stir (2–3 revolutions) to integrate the soda with the Campari and vermouth without flattening the carbonation.

7

Garnish with an orange slice or a long orange twist. If using a twist, express the oils by holding it over the glass and giving it a quick twist before dropping it in.

8

Serve immediately. Optional: provide a straw for sipping or let the guest stir more to increase dilution over time.
