Whiteclaw Hard Seltzer (1 can) - DIY Cocktail Version

Method

Whiteclaw Hard Seltzer (1 can) - DIY Cocktail Version

  1. 1

    Chill and prepare

Place your sparkling water and vodka in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before mixing if possible. Chill glassware as well. If using fresh citrus, squeeze and measure juice (about 0.25 fl oz).

  2. 2

    Combine alcohol and flavor

In a tall 12–16 oz (350–475 ml) glass or in a shaker, pour 1.5 fl oz vodka and 0.5 fl oz chosen fruit juice or fruit syrup. Add 0.25 fl oz fresh citrus juice if using and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup only if you prefer a slightly sweeter result.

  3. 3

    Add ice (optional)

If serving over ice, add 3–4 ice cubes to the glass. Note: adding ice will slightly dilute the final drink as it melts; for a closer mimic of canned seltzer, serve without ice or use pre-chilled ingredients.

  4. 4

    Top with sparkling water

Slowly pour 8 fl oz chilled sparkling water or club soda into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to retain carbonation. Stir gently once with a bar spoon or stirrer to integrate flavors without flattening the bubbles.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a citrus wedge or a piece of the fruit corresponding to your flavor (lime wedge for lime, cherry or a few frozen cherries for black cherry, a thin mango slice for mango). Serve immediately while fizzy.

  6. 6

    Notes on proportions and variations

This recipe approximates the flavor and ABV of a 12 oz hard seltzer: using 1.5 fl oz vodka yields about 4.5–5% ABV when combined with 9 oz total beverage. Adjust fruit juice or syrup to taste; use flavored vodka for a simpler one-ingredient flavor boost. For a non-alcoholic version, omit vodka and increase sparkling water by 1.5 fl oz and adjust flavoring.
