Measure and combine
In a shaker, add 120 ml rye whiskey, 60 ml sweet vermouth, 15 ml maple syrup, and 0.5 tsp Angostura bitters.

Add ice
Add 2 cups of ice to the shaker and fill about 3/4 full.

Shake
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into glasses
Strain the mixture evenly into two chilled coupe or rocks glasses.

Garnish and serve
If desired, garnish with a twist of orange peel and serve immediately.
