Method
Preparing the Lemonade Base
- 1
Juicing the Lemons
Cut the fresh lemons in half and juice them using a citrus juicer or by hand. Make sure to remove any seeds.
- 2
Mixing Sugar and Water
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 3
Combining Ingredients
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the sugar-water mixture, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
Adding Flavorings (Optional)
- 4
Muddling Mint (if using)
If you are using fresh mint, take the mint leaves and gently muddle them at the bottom of the pitcher before adding the lemonade base. This will release the mint's essential oils.
- 5
Adding Berries (if using)
If you want to add strawberries or raspberries, slice the strawberries and add them to the pitcher along with the raspberries.
Serving the Lemonade
- 6
Chilling and Serving
Add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses. Pour the lemonade over the ice and garnish with additional mint leaves or lemon slices if desired. Serve immediately.
