Method
Cocktail
Mix and Shake
Add 2 oz aged rum, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz fresh orange juice, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Seal and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Prepare Glass
Fill a double old-fashioned glass (or rocks glass) with cracked or crushed ice (about 1 cup).
Garnish & Finish
Express the oils of an orange twist over the surface of the drink by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a quick squeeze so the oils spray across the top, then drop the twist into the drink or perch it on the rim.
Garnish with a fresh mint sprig. Clap the mint once between your hands to release its aroma before placing it on the drink (do not muddle).
Serve immediately with a short straw. Optional: add one more dash of Angostura bitters on top of the crushed ice for aroma.
