Method
Coffee Base
Brew 1 cup of strong hot coffee (about 240 ml). Pour 1 cup of the hot coffee into the warmed glass.
Stir in 1 tablespoon brown sugar until completely dissolved.
Alcohol & Flavor
Add 1.5 oz Irish whiskey to the sweetened hot coffee and stir gently to combine.
Stir in 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract for added depth (optional but recommended).
Cream Topping
Prepare Lightly Whipped Cream
In a small bowl, whisk 2 tablespoons heavy cream with 1 teaspoon powdered sugar until it reaches soft-peak, pourable consistency. Do not overwhip — you want it slightly thickened but still pourable to float on the coffee.
Hold a spoon just above the coffee surface and gently pour the cream over the back of the spoon so it floats and forms a distinct layer on top of the coffee.
Do not stir after adding the cream; the traditional way is to drink the coffee through the cream layer.
Garnish (optional)
Lightly grate nutmeg or dust a pinch of cocoa over the cream to garnish, if desired.
Serve immediately while hot.
