Cosmopolitan Cocktail

Method

Prepare glass (optional)

1

Chill and rim (optional)

If desired, chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes. For a sugar rim: rub a lime wedge around the glass rim, dip the rim into coarse sugar placed on a small plate, and set the glass aside.

Mix the cocktail

2

Fill a cocktail shaker half to three-quarters full with ice cubes.

3

Add 2 oz Absolut Citron vodka, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz cranberry juice, and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker. If you prefer a slightly sweeter Cosmo, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.

4

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is chilled and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes the drink to proper balance.

5

Strain the mixture through a fine strainer (or the shaker strainer) into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove small ice shards and any pulp from the lime.

Garnish and serve

6

Finish by expressing an orange twist over the drink (if using) to release the oils, then drop it into the glass, or float a lime wheel on the surface as garnish.

7

Serve immediately while chilled.
