Baking Instructions
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Stir in the semisweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and chopped nuts if using.
Chill the Dough
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the centers are still soft.
Cool and Serve
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
