Method
Biscuits
Prepare Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
Incorporate Butter
Cut the unsalted butter into small pieces and add it to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add Buttermilk
Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Shape the Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.
Bake the Biscuits
Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
