Strawberry Shake

Enjoy a creamy and refreshing regular-sized strawberry shake made with ripe strawberries and smooth vanilla ice cream.

Strawberry Shake, regular size

Wash and chop the fresh apples, removing any seeds and stems. Place them in a large pot.

Prepare the Apples

Add water to the pot and cook the apples over medium heat until they are soft. Use a potato masher to crush the apples, then strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to extract the juice.

Extract Juice

In a clean fermentation vessel, combine the extracted apple juice, sugar, potassium metabisulfite, and tannin (if using). Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.

Add Ingredients

Sprinkle the yeast over the juice mixture and gently stir to combine. Seal the fermentation vessel with an airlock.

Pitch the Yeast

Allow the cider to ferment in a cool, dark place for about 2 to 4 weeks, or until fermentation has stopped (check for bubbles in the airlock).

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the cider into clean bottles, leaving some headspace. Seal the bottles and let them carbonate for another 1-2 weeks.

Bottling

Chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade dry cider!
