Sandwich Assembly

Method

Sandwich Assembly

1

Warm and slice brisket (if not pre-sliced)

If your brisket is whole or chilled, reheat gently: place brisket in a shallow baking dish, add 1/4 cup beef broth or water, cover tightly with foil and heat in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 45–60 minutes until warm through. Let rest 5 minutes, then thinly slice across the grain to yield about 1 lb of sliced brisket.

2

Season and saucede brisket

Place the sliced brisket in a bowl. Sprinkle with the coarse salt and black pepper, pour 1/3 cup of the Original BBQ Sauce over the meat, and gently toss to coat evenly. Reserve the remaining sauce for serving.

3

Toast buns

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Spread softened butter evenly on the cut sides of the buns. Place buns butter-side down in the skillet and toast until golden brown and crisp, about 1–2 minutes. Remove and keep warm.

4

Assemble sandwiches

If using, spread about 1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Divide the sauced sliced brisket evenly among the 4 buns (about 4 oz / 1/4 lb per sandwich). Spoon an additional 1 tablespoon of reserved Original BBQ Sauce over the brisket on each sandwich if you like it saucier. Top each with 3 dill pickle slices, then place the top bun.

5

Serve

Serve sandwiches immediately while warm. Pass extra Original BBQ Sauce and pickles at the table. Leftover sliced brisket can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
