Soda
Method
Soda
Chill glass and prepare ice
If desired, chill a tall glass in the freezer for 5β10 minutes. Fill the glass with 1 cup of ice cubes to keep the soda very cold.
Add syrup
Measure 2 tablespoons of cola syrup (or cola concentrate). Pour the syrup into the chilled, ice-filled glass. If using cola extract instead, dissolve 2β3 teaspoons of simple syrup with 1/4β1/2 teaspoon extract to approximate the flavor.
Add lime (optional)
Add 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lime juice to the glass if you like a brighter, slightly tangy note in your soda. This is optional but recommended with pizza.
Top with carbonated water
Slowly pour 1 cup (about 240 ml) of cold carbonated water over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass to preserve fizz and avoid excessive foaming. Pour until the glass is nearly full, leaving a little room at the top.
Stir gently
Using a long spoon or stirrer, gently stir once or twice to combine the syrup and carbonated water evenly without flattening the soda.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wedge or slice on the rim if desired. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy alongside your pizza.
