Chill glassware and ingredients
Place the bottle of prosecco and a juicer or container of fresh-squeezed orange juice in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes so both are well chilled. Optionally chill the serving flutes in the refrigerator or freezer for 5–10 minutes.
Prepare garnish
If using, cut one thin orange slice or peel a twist from a fresh orange. Set aside on a small plate for garnish.
Measure juice
Pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) of chilled fresh orange juice into each champagne flute or glass. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add up to 1/2 teaspoon of simple syrup to the juice and gently stir to combine.
Add prosecco
Slowly pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) of chilled prosecco into each flute over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass to preserve bubbles. Pour gently to avoid overflow; the typical ratio is 1:1 prosecco to orange juice for a classic mimosa.
Garnish and serve
Lightly place the orange slice on the rim or float a thin twist in the drink. Serve immediately while bubbly.
