Method
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
Brew the Coffee
Prepare 1 cup of strong brewed coffee. Allow it to cool slightly.
Add Coffee Liqueur
If using, stir in 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur into the brewed coffee. Set aside to cool completely.
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
Whisk Egg Yolks
In a bowl, whisk together 3 large egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until thick and pale.
Add Mascarpone and Vanilla
Gently fold in 16 oz of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie (24 pieces) into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, place a layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
