Prepare glass
Choose a highball or Collins glass. Fill it with ice to chill while you build the drink.
Mix base
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Ketel One vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, and 0.25 oz simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice (enough to come three-quarters up).
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled.
Strain and top
Discard the ice from the chilled glass. Using a Hawthorne or fine strainer, strain the shaken mixture into the glass over fresh ice. Top gently with 2 oz club soda to give a light effervescence.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or a lime twist and optionally a fresh mint sprig slapped between your hands to release aromatics. Serve immediately with a stirrer or straw for a light stir before drinking.
