Bloody Mary Cocktail

Method

Prepare Glass

1

If you like a salted rim, rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a highball or Collins glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of kosher or celery salt to coat. Set glass aside.

Mix Cocktail

2

Combine ingredients

Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass with ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz vodka, 4 oz tomato juice, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 0.5 tsp prepared horseradish, 3 dashes hot sauce, 0.25 tsp celery salt, 6 grinds freshly ground black pepper, and 0.125 tsp smoked paprika if using.

3

Shake or roll

Secure the shaker and give a gentle but thorough shake for 5–8 seconds (or stir/roll 6–8 times if you prefer less dilution). The goal is to chill and lightly aerate without over-diluting.

4

Taste and adjust

Strain a small taste (or pour a little into a small glass) and adjust seasoning to preference: more hot sauce for heat, more Worcestershire for umami, more lemon for brightness, or a pinch more celery salt/pepper for savory balance.

5

Serve

Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the mixed Bloody Mary into the glass over the ice. If you used a shaker with a fine mesh, this will produce a smoother drink; if not, pouring directly is fine for a heartier texture.

Garnish & Finish

6

Garnish with a celery stalk, a lemon wedge on the rim, and a cocktail pickle or olive skewered on a pick. Give one final grind of black pepper over the top. Serve immediately with a straw and a small spoon if you included chunky garnishes.
