Method
Chocolate Cake
Prepare the Cake Batter
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until well combined. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Chocolate Ganache
Make the Ganache
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Let sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth. Allow to cool slightly before using.
Vanilla Ice Cream
Prepare the Ice Cream Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. Transfer to a container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
