Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass by placing it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or filling it with ice water while you build the cocktail.

2

Combine ingredients

Add the gin, sweet vermouth, sherry, aperitivo, Luxardo maraschino, orange bitters and Angostura bitters to a mixing glass.

3

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of fresh, large ice. Stir the mixture briskly for 25–35 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until well chilled, slightly diluted, and clear.

4

Strain

Discard ice or water from the chilled serving glass. Double-strain the stirred cocktail into the chilled coupe/Nick & Nora using a Hawthorne strainer (or julep strainer) and a fine mesh strainer to remove any small shards of ice.

5

Garnish and finish

Express the oils of an orange peel over the surface of the drink by holding the peel skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the glass and giving it a firm squeeze to release the oils. Rim the glass with the peel and drop it into the drink (or discard if you prefer). Serve immediately.
