Preparation Steps
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
Brew strong coffee and let it cool. If using, mix in coffee liqueur.
Make the Cream Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture for a few seconds, then layer them in a dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve
Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
