Garnish & Finish
Method
Prep (optional rim)
Rim the glass (optional)
If you want a salted or sugared rim, run a cut lime or blood orange wedge around the edge of a chilled rocks or coupe glass, then dip the rim into coarse salt or sugar spread on a small plate. Set the glass aside to dry briefly.
Mixing
Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with fresh ice.
Add 2 oz Absolut Vodka to the shaker.
Add 0.75 oz triple sec (Cointreau or similar).
Pour in 1.5 oz fresh blood orange juice. To obtain this, juice a medium blood orange; you should get roughly 1.5–2 oz per fruit depending on size.
Add 0.5 oz fresh lime juice (about half a lime) to balance the sweetness.
Add 0.5 oz agave syrup. If your agave is very thick, pre-measure and warm slightly or shake well to combine.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly diluted.
If you prefer a diluted, colder drink, shake 12–15 seconds; for a brighter, more spirit-forward cocktail, 8–10 seconds.
Double-strain the mixture into the prepared glass: use the shaker’s strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and any pulp for a clean presentation. Serve over fresh ice in a rocks glass, or neat in a chilled coupe if you rimmed the glass and prefer no ice.
Garnish & Serve
Garnish with a blood orange wheel or a long blood orange twist. Optionally add a lime wheel or wedge on the rim for color and an extra citrus aroma.
Serve immediately. Encourage the drinker to stir once if served over ice to integrate any slight separation.
