Cocktail

Blackberry Puree (if making fresh)

Quick House Lemonade (optional)

Method

Blackberry Puree (if making fresh)

1

Cook and puree

Place 1 cup blackberries and 1 tablespoon sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until fruit breaks down and releases juices, about 4–6 minutes.

2

Blend and strain

Let the berries cool slightly, then transfer to a blender with 1/2 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp water. Blend until smooth. Optional: strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing solids to extract puree. Yield should be about 1 oz per cocktail portion; refrigerate until use.

Quick House Lemonade (optional)

3

If making lemonade from scratch: combine 0.75 cup fresh lemon juice with 2 cups water and 2 cups sugar in a pitcher. Stir until sugar dissolves. Chill. For cocktail use, measure 3 oz (about 3/8 cup) per drink. You can thin with water or adjust sugar to taste.

Cocktail Assembly

4

Prepare glass: Fill a highball glass (or Collins glass) with ice cubes to chill.

5

Combine base spirits: In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Old Forester bourbon, 0.5 oz Stirrings Ginger Liqueur, 1 oz blackberry puree, and 1 oz fresh lemon juice.

6

Add shake and sweeten: Add a small handful of ice to the shaker (enough to chill but not over-dilute). Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds. Taste; if you prefer sweeter, add 0.25 oz simple syrup and shake again for 5 seconds.

7

Build the drink: Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared ice-filled glass. Top with 3 oz chilled lemonade, pouring gently to keep a layered look if desired.

8

Finish and garnish: Give the drink a gentle stir once or twice to integrate the lemonade with the shaken mix. Garnish with 2–3 fresh blackberries skewered on a pick, a lemon wheel or wedge on the rim, and an optional mint sprig tucked beside the blackberries.

9

Serve: Provide a straw or stirrer and serve immediately. Advise guests to stir before sipping if the puree has settled.
