Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare the glass

Rub a cut grapefruit wedge or a lime wedge around the rim of an old-fashioned glass. Dip the rim into smoked salt (or coarse kosher salt) spread on a small plate so the rim is lightly and evenly coated. Set glass aside.

2

Combine ingredients

Add reposado tequila, blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, fresh grapefruit juice, agave nectar, orange liqueur, and Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.

3

Shake

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Strain and serve (short)

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared old-fashioned glass over one large ice cube or a few medium ice cubes.

5

Optional: long/bright version

If you prefer a longer drink, fill the prepared glass with ice and pour the shaken cocktail into it, then top with 1.5 oz club soda and gently stir once to combine.

6

Garnish and finish

Express the oils of a grapefruit twist over the drink by pinching the peel skin-side down above the glass, then drop the twist into the drink as garnish.
