Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prep glass and mint

Choose a mule mug or a highball glass. Lightly slap 4 of the mint leaves between your palms to release aroma and place them in the bottom of the glass. Reserve 2 leaves for garnish.

  2. 2

    Build the base

Add the passionfruit purée (2 tbs) and fresh lime juice (0.75 oz) to the glass over the mint. If you prefer a slightly sweeter cocktail, add 1/2 tsp simple syrup.

  3. 3

    Add spirit and ice

Pour 2 oz vodka into the glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice, leaving about 1/2 inch of headspace at the top.

  4. 4

Top with ginger beer and soda

Slowly pour 4 oz Owen's Ginger Beer over the ice, then add 1 oz club soda. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon (about 3 gentle turns) to integrate the purée without overly bruising the mint.

  5. 5

    Taste and adjust

Taste the cocktail. If it needs more brightness, add an additional 1/4 oz lime juice. If it needs more sweetness, dissolve another 1/4 tsp simple syrup and stir.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Top with the reserved mint leaves and a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Spoon half a passionfruit (or a few seeds) on top if using for visual appeal. Serve immediately with a straw.
