Frozen Margarita Mix

Method

Garnish & Glass Prep

  1. 1

    Prepare glass rim

Run a lime wedge around the outer rim of a chilled margarita or coupe glass to moisten. Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and press the moistened rim into the salt to create an even salted rim. Set the glass aside in the freezer or refrigerator to chill while you make the cocktail.

Frozen Margarita Mix

  1. 2

    Measure ingredients

Measure 3 oz El Bandido Blanco Tequila, 1.5 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz triple sec, and 0.75 oz agave syrup. Using fresh lime juice is recommended for bright flavor; adjust agave if you prefer sweeter or drier.

  2. 3

    Blend

Add the measured tequila, lime juice, triple sec, agave syrup, and 3 cups of ice to a high-speed blender. Secure the lid and pulse once to break up the ice, then blend on high for 20–40 seconds (or until smooth and slushy). If the mixture is too thin, add 1/2 cup more ice and blend again for 10–20 seconds. If it’s too thick, add 1/4 oz water or extra lime juice and pulse briefly.

  3. 4

    Taste and adjust

Taste a small spoonful (or a quick finger-dip if using a clean spoon) and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed: add 0.25–0.5 oz agave for more sweetness, or 0.25 oz lime juice for more brightness. Blend briefly after any adjustment to incorporate.

  4. 5

    Serve

Pour the frozen mixture into the prepared salted glass, using a spoon to hold back excess slush if necessary. Garnish with a lime wedge or lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or short spoon.
