Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare and Shake

If using salt or Tajín, rub the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass and dip the rim into the salt/Tajín. Add 1 cup of ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour in 2 oz Insolito Blanco Tequila, 1.5 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.75 oz passionfruit purée, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz triple sec, and 0.25 oz agave syrup (if using).

  2. 2

Firmly cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes the cocktail to balance flavors.

  3. 3

    Strain and Serve

Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or leave it chilled if serving straight up. Double-strain the cocktail (using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer) into the glass to remove ice shards and any passionfruit seeds or pulp for a smooth texture.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 4

Garnish with a blood orange wheel or half-moon placed on the rim or floated on top and optionally a lime wedge. Serve immediately.

  2. 5

Taste and adjust: if the cocktail tastes too tart, add a barspoon (about 0.25 oz) more agave syrup and gently stir. If it needs more brightness, add 0.25 oz more lime juice and re-stir or give a quick shake with ice and re-strain.
